Dasmarinas City, Cavite – In its drive to shape future engineers, the Technological University of the Philippines – Cavite Campus has made a milestone achievement in conducting the First Hard Hatting and Pinning Ceremony and Engineering Advisory Council Convention on April 22, 2026, held at the TUP Auditorium.

The event was attended by university officials, faculty members, industry partners, and engineering students, marking a new chapter in the students' academic journey.

Symbolizing Readiness and Responsibility

The program was opened with the long-awaited Hard Hatting and Pinning Ceremony, an event that represents the students' preparedness to venture into the professional world and gain hands-on experience.

Along with Engr. Gil Beltran, the Engineering Department Head, other officials such as Dr. Alexander E. Mag-isa, Campus Director; Prof. Ces Reyes, Asst. Director for Academic Affairs; and Guest Engr. Joy Garces, PICE Cavite Chapter President, honored the event. They presented the students with hard hats and pins, signifying that they are ready to observe professionalism, ethics, and high standards during their job training period.

"The hard hat is not just equipment; it represents our readiness and commitment to excellence, reminding us that the structures we build carry human lives and must be built with absolute reliability. The engineering pin is our oath—a promise that our integrity will be as solid as steel, never sacrificing quality or safety. We wear these symbols for our families and for the nation we pledge to build."

Dr. Alexander E. Mag-isa

"The Hard Hatting and Pinning Ceremony is not a mere ceremony but a significant event symbolizing the students' transition to being future engineering professionals. The hard hat and pin symbolize accountability, tenacity, and integrity, as the students will be responsible for the safety and well-being of other individuals in their engineering projects... One needs self-assurance, continuous improvement, and determination to solve problems in order to succeed. Wear your hard hats and pins with pride."

Engr. Gil Beltran

Guest speaker Engr. Joy Garces also highlighted the ceremony's immense importance. He pointed out that engineering is a tough profession but encouraged the students to rely on their perseverance. Sharing a personal experience, he inspired the attendees to believe in themselves and to always look for solutions, no matter how tough the situation may be.

To conclude the morning session, Asst. Director for Academic Affairs, Prof. Ces Reyes, humorously ended the event by encouraging the engineering students to stay committed and finish their journey toward becoming licensed engineers. She expressed her hope that no one would fail, so everyone could graduate on time.

Fostering Partnership through EAC Convention

Following the ceremony, an Engineering Advisory Council (EAC) Convention was conducted later in the afternoon at the Audio Visual Room. This was crucial in creating a forum where the academe and the industry could actively interact.

Under the direction of Campus Director Dr. Alex Mag-isa and Engr. Gil Beltran, this convention emphasized the necessity to harmonize the engineering curriculum with industry standards. A key focus was improving the internships of TUP Cavite graduates so that they will be fully qualified and competent to enter the workforce.

A Milestone Achievement

The event concluded on a highly positive note. Both the ceremony and the convention signified the unyielding commitment of TUP Cavite toward producing competent, skilled, and industry-ready engineers capable of competing in the global market.
